Suffering for music!!!

It was my Birthday last week , and as every year I got a flashback of the old days, this year the flashback was about the old music days, when I became 14 years old I was introduced to Nirvana, And ever since I became a rock/Metal Fan.

I lived in Irbid which is a small city in the north of Jordan, There wasn't much to do for a teenager there; Internet was the newest thing at that time, where only the rich can go to an internet cafe; and not everyone owned a computer!.

We used to buy tapes to listen to music, My dad Used to give me (3 JOD = 5$) every week as pocket money, a music tape was 1.5 JOD (not original of course).

there where only 3 music shops in Irbid, 2 of them had mostly pop music ( that was when Nsync was the biggest thing ever) and a little rock collection ( I had more rock tapes than they did), The Third was the real mind blower!.

At that time, Heavy metal music was an underground industry, everyone who likes rock music was thought to be satanic, and everyone had access to heavy metal music. It was hard to get any good music, except at what I'm going to call in this post "It".

It was a music shop with no name, and the biggest alphabetically ordered music tapes, the biggest collection ever, and right behind the counter there was a hard to see group of shelves where all the things I really wanted were kept... Anathema, Metallica, Slipknot, Haggard, Korn and many other great bands where listed there where no one can see them, and Since internet wasn't so accessible at the time, It was hard to know what's new, what's good and what's not, so here came Osama's turn.

Every Thursday I skipped the last class at school and walk for 20 minutes to reach It, If Osama (which is the name of the owner of It) had any customers and I want to ask him anything he looked at me and said "wait", When the customers are gone I could ask him about a band I heard about or about a musician I found Mentioned in Smash hits magazine since Metal hammer Magazine was also hard to find!.

He never gave me the Music I Wanted, he always gave me advice to take something else, explained to me the different types of Heavy Metal, made me listen to samples while he eats his small sized onion cream flavored pringles with mango juice ( a killer combination if you ask me!) and every tape I bought (which cost 50% of my weekly income at the time!) was a wonderful experience.

Osama started to open only on Wednesdays for few hours, then closed for ever, Few years ago, I found out that Osama owned a huge music store in the UK, and he went back there because he couldn't fit in!.

I am really Grateful for Him , I think a huge part of my personality developed this way because of the music I listened and still listen to.

Note: thanks to allouh who encouraged me to write about this.

For those who died alone - by pentagram

We live, walk this earth struggle , spend all our lives searching for happiness and we are not Happy. The more aware, educated and intellectual we become, the more unsatisfied we are.

We fear death, and we search for a reason to die for!!!

Human.. that's what we are... a word that holds all the contradictions in it, we destroy to build, kill to live and live to destroy and build, most of us live and die with no cause other than greed, and those who die for a cause never get the acknowledgment unless after they die, the phrase "life is unfair" has become a fact, and facts have become so hard to find!.

I dedicate this song to all of those who died, dying or will die all " all of us die alone in the end" ... It is ironic how we make an endless effort while knowing that at the end we will be on our own!!!

I have listened to this speaking music all day today... and I can't have enough of it ...I hope it rings a bill for you...

Where the good times Go???

I know It has been a while folks, But I was busy being a working class hero... lots of tasks, allergy comes in handy whenever the weather changes, I had my share of anti histamines, I think I'm a great asset for the medical industry!!!.

early last week I had a job mission, there was a conference and our company was a software sponsor , and they thought of me as the person in front of the cannon ball, but It all went well.

The 2 days I spent were full of hard work, but I found myself with a lovely, easygoing and cooperative team, there were around 10 people, I thought I was the only outsider among them, but yesterday I realized, the maximum number of people who already knew each other was 3!!!, and the rest were just like me , it is amazing how harmonic the work was, how together we enjoyed the hardest moments, and how with each step we took we became closer to success in our mission!.

what I learned from this experience is : " if you know your task, you are good to go, you don't really need time to adapt!" .

I'll miss the team I worked with, but I wonder if I left a fingerprint in their lives during this short time!

The unlucky lucky me!

Well , I was writing the unfortunate events that I have had this week, but after I realized that I spent 30 minuets talking about only one incident I realized that it will take me forever to say them in details.

1- I lost my mobile 5 times " yes five..it was lost once and it took me from Saturday to Thursday to get it back home".

2- lost my apartment keys 2 times "always happens".

3- Got the news that there will be no raise this month " yes of course it is the international crisis"

4- had been waiting for a bad thing that is going to happen but I can tell you what! "I can't means that I won't..even if you ask..sorry"

5- got stuck in the elevator once and on the way out i almost got cut into half...who on earth would design and elevator that has hidden blade doors that close so fast even if someone was in the middle.

6- Was waiting 3 days to eat my frozen meal that turned out to be the worst meal I ever had.

7- Had to be away from people I love.

8- Had minimum or no contact with people around me!

9- I almost missed the bus because of a long delayed meeting! " i had to run like forest gump"

and What makes me wonder about is the fact that i still wake up every morning , I look at the mirror with a smile and lie to my self by saying " today , everything seems to be OK!!!" and I go to work convinced in this fantasy!... so stupid of me..I know

This story is symbolic

There was A princess ,
she was waiting in a place,
where she lived happily,

She fell in love,
she was as peaceful as a white dove.
she had all she wants in this love.

But an adviser came up with a thought,
and to the palace a young prince he brought,
and the king never cared for what the princess thought.

Her man needed time,
for all he can afford is bread and thyme,
and he didn't have a dime
to be with what he called " the love of mine"

The princess was forced to see the young prince,
the peasant lover was overwhelmed with anger
"how come this prince thinks he can claim what is mine?" he said
"for maybe I'm not the best... but I would Cherish my queen the best"
"its not the crown,
its not the fame...
its the tear I drop whenever she looks away..."

the prince left the palace and he shall wait and may reappear,
when the lover and the princess shall wait in suspense fear!!!

Note: this poem may mean different things to different people, it is about "someone else" that is trying to take what is "something" from you, It may remind you of reoccurring incidents!!!

A Strange Hair Day!!!

People always hope for a good hair day, and when they are upset they say " having a bad hair day",Well... Today for me was a "strange Hair day".

Today was the first day in the rest of my life (of course it was... but had to start somehow!).

I came to work, started a task that was assigned to me yesterday end of the day, I was actually glad because I prepared all the items I need for the task since I didn't have time to actually start with it, and things went smoothly... Until... KABOOM; I found that the template I take as a reference for my review tasks has been changed ; it kinda became a whole new document that needs restructuring.

Two months ago; such incidence would have caused me to announce "code red " in my "Brain department" and start seeking a contingency plan.

Today the little Adi behind the fancy desk that is behind the red velvet curtain inside my Brain Department yelled : " Assess then react!!!" , so I decided to proceed as before since the task was initiated according to the older Version and no notification was received by my side.

It is quite strange, I finally reached a point where I can make a decision that has consequences, although I might be blamed for it, but I have to start at some point!!!

Another incident; I went down with a colleague to smell a bit of fresh air " as in the Opera O Sole mio (l'aria freska)" , we were talking about a graduation project for a university student we saw few months ago, it was an alarm clock that sprays water when it rings then it runs away... my other colleague was saying " I swear to God, if it throws Water at me I will *#$#$%&%$" when suddenly a huge amount of water fell on both of us from a window.... Yes people... KARMA exists!!!

And finally I went to a restaurant and the waiter was strangely nice to me.. I even thought he was gay but it turned out that he is nice to everyone. But really he was nice in a scary way, He refilled my soda free of charge without even asking!... is there still such nice people in the world?!.

Advice: strange hair days are the most worthy of being documented!!!

Spiritual Coffee Story!

Once my friend and I went to a Coffee House, we both ordered cappuccino to go, I noticed that he didn’t put any sugar in his cup when I told him to do so – I thought he forgot to do so!- he answered “ No…This is a spiritual Drink!!!

Let’s say that I have been inspired to write a post about coffee (Passive Voice), I did some thinking and research, and the strange fact was: “Coffee was initially used for spiritual reasons; it became the substitute beverage in spiritual practices where wine was forbidden

Imagine how Much less people would any of us know if it wasn’t for coffee, the photos below tell the story of a coffee bean …

Picture 1 (above) The white Coffee seeds are placed in soil until young coffee trees grow up then they are moved to land plantations.

Picture 2 (above) the young coffee trees are planted in plantations, notice that there are banana trees nearby , this is why Coffee planting countries are also famous for banana, coffee trees are planted in the shade of other trees

Picture 3 (Above) green coffee cherries grow ... don't they look inspiring???.

Picture 4 (Above) Now the cherries became nice, red, shining and Very tempting for gathering, I always wondered why when a fruit or a vegetable is ready to be picked it looks at its best!!!

picture 5 (Above) The gathering has started, the Joy of harvest and never mind the exhausting hard work.

Picture 6 (Above) the nice red shining cherries are peeled, each cherry has 2 coffee beans, can you imagine that this used to be done by Hand!

Picture 7 (above) coffee is processed, this takes huge amounts of water, in places were water is a limited resource a "Dry" method is used.

Picture 8 (Above) coffee beans are slowly roasted with constant motion so all beans are roasted equally , the amazing smell of coffee becomes noticeable , a nice brown color starts to taint the fresh beans , to have shiny beans with an amazing aroma!!!

Finally you can order you favorite coffee ... sit down and relax, each bean deserves to be enjoyed and respected!.

I hope that you won’t use the phrase “Just a cup” the next time you invite someone for Coffee maybe the word spiritual is more honest.

Yours,
Adi Nashashibi
